Customer Development

Customer Development refers to a process that was created by Steve Blank to describe an approach to finding customers for a startup.  It is meant to complement a Product Development process by taking an incremental, learning driven approach to discovering who the customers for a product will be.  It works well with Eric Ries' Lean Startup concept, where Product Development is focused on reaching the concept of a Minimum Viable Product.

The four phases of Customer Development are:
Customer Discovery
Customer Validation
Customer Creation
Company Building
